There are a number of things that make me who I am. One of the main things I think would have to be my family. Since I've been living with them for my entire life they have given me a lot of influence for different things in my life.
Being the oldest of three brothers and one sister I have had a lot of practice taking care of little kids. Whether it was changing diapers or feeding them to just reading them a story I had a lot of practice.
The youngest in my family is my brother and he just turned six and I am like his second mother. When he was little he used to cry for me to come home. He was and still is my baby.
Other influences that make me who I am are my friends. I don't know what I would do without my friends. Whether I'm happy, grumpy or sad they are always there and that is something really special. My friends without a doubt make me who I am. I know that I made a good choice when I chose my friends, they are friends that are always there and I know they will never leave me. They always come through for me. They have taught me a lot, too many things that I can't name them all. They have taught me how to care for others, they have even taught me little things like having a good time. My friends have definitely made me who I am. Anonymous said that, Friends are like wedgies-they know your inner self, their intimately close and it feels really good when you pick a good one out. This is one of my favourite quotes and it perfectly describes how I feel about my friends.
So, there are many things that have influenced me in my life, there are lots of things that make me who I am.

Pop Culture
There are many things that fall under the category pop culture. Everybody has different ideas and views on the different styles of clothing, the music they listen to, and how their hair looks there are so many different things that we look for.
I think that it is right to be in style. Alot of women spend way too much time trying to figure what is in and what is out. My teacher asked us the question, "Are women influenced by society wi th what they wear or how they are supposed to look?" Most of us had the same answer, "Yes!" This really got me thinking about how are women actually influenced by society. and thinking about it I realized yes, we are affected so much abut how we need to wear a certain thing, we need to be a certain weight the makeup we wear needs to look a certain way. We are told that there is only one way to do these things.
Our teacher told us a story about how she just stopped cutting her hair and stopped shaving and just changed everything to prove to people she didn't care about how she looked. She said it was an experiment and she said that people did treat her differently because of the way she looked. At first I was completely disgusted, but really it was a good point and it showed how much people worry about the way that they look. I think the reason that I was so disgusted was because she said she didn't shave for like eight years that just really grossed me out. It showed me though that, that is something I would never be able to do I would be to worried about what people were thinking about me. Which I know is not good.
Music was something I never paid much attention to, but now that I got my ipod I have found myself listening to alot more music. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but I really enjoy doing that and I wouldn't want to give that up.
For me pop culture involves so many things, some I agree with and others I don't. I have my opinions just as other people have theirs.

What is Prejudice

Prejudice can be defined in different ways. As most people view it, including myself it's being racial towards people that are different than us. Whether it's colour, sex religion, whatever it is some of the time they aren't treated right. Another way of being prejudice, as my teacher put it is prejudging things like movies, food or clothes anything that we judge that we have never actually tried. In my opinion prejudice is wrong if you are judging movies and things that's not as bad, you should at least see the movie before you judge, but judging a movie doesn't even come close to judging people.
Not so much after, but while reading "To Kill A Mockingbird" I found myself thinking a lot about blacks verses whites and about all the prejudice that goes on in this world that we are living in. Just all the little things that we say, although we may not realize it, they can have an impact on the people around us.
For me, I am really short and people do make a lot of comments about that. It doesn't bother me at all because I know I'm short, but sometimes it can be a draw back because people think I'm younger and then they think I am incapable of doing different things and that's when it bothers me. In Grade 8 I tried out for the wrestling team, the coach was sure that I had no chance with this sport, he thought I was hopeless, but I showed him. I came to every practice and worked my hardest and it payed off. At my first wrestling jamboree I went undefeated and was announced top wrestler. This happened at my second jamboree as well. When it came time to my tournament my coach came and told me what he had thought of me when I first came out for wrestling and he apologized to me. At my tournament I won a gold medal. I proved to my coach that I could wrestle. I am small, but quick.
I haven't had many experiences where I have been the person being ridiculed, but there have been times where I have criticized other people. Never to their face or not intentionally to their face, but behind their backs for sure. Sometimes that can even be more harmful to the person if you say things behind their back. I know I would want to know if people were saying things about me.
It hurts me when people judge me so I know that I shouldn't judge others that is something I really need to work on.
